Brick & Mortar Brand Identity
Film production and management company BRICK + MORTAR needed a logo and visual identity design that would get their new business started on the right foot. As a business based on a healthy balance of relationship development and attention to detail and deadlines, owners Beda Calhoun and Jaime Keating wanted a modern, clean and crisp yet approachable and friendly look.
We developed a number of concepts that focused on the telling of stories, packaging stories, and bringing stories to a wider audience. They chose the one that more literally communicates the sense of a well-planned package that is wrapped up and ready for release into the world.
Based on their inspiration board we knew that fun, interesting and approachable combinations were the way to go in developing their brand identity. Bright yet warm colors, vintage brick and a hand's on approach were all important to the dynamic duo.
For their business card and informational postcard, we chose to embellish the simple logo by utilizing a more stylish font and bringing in a hand-made element. We created a collage with photos and ephemera to tell their story on the postcard, and designed one stamp they would use to imprint their information on business cards made of brown kraft paper and a second smaller stamp that they would use for their business card backs as well as anywhere else they chose. The final piece created was a business card informational brochure that they could easily carry around and pass out while attending film festivals or industry expos.
Beda and Jaime were fabulous to work with, their creative energy and enthusiasm really burst through in their personalities and I think we really captured that in the work we did together.
This project was completed with two business partners, Kimi Mischke and Margaret Mathers as ithree graphic design.
